Who we are
The Insurance Council of New Zealand (ICNZ) is a representative body
established in 1895 to represent fire and general insurance companies. We
are governed by a Board of 10 members, appointed annually at the AGM.
Our members accept the risks of over NZ$1 trillion of New Zealand’s assets
and liabilities. The Council also performs an important role in informing and
educating consumers about key insurance issues and risks.
How we do it
- Presenting a consumer-centric focus to improve outcomes for consumers of general insurance
- Developing high quality positions on regulatory issues
- Pro-actively supporting and advocating for a resilient New Zealand
- Enhancing the reputation of the general insurance sector
- Reducing the cost of insurance fraud to policyholders.
